Are you kidding me? Like I don’t keep myself clean enough!

So the humans went out today for a while, and when they came back, they brought me a tasty new block to chew on. I came out to inspect the apartment for a while (as usual) and then I noticed my pink towel was on the ground. The pink towel always means something, and it isn’t always the same thing, so I always have to investigate.

See, I got the pink towel from my crazy doctor, I guess as an apology present for being such a jerk to me and my humans. Ever since then, they’ve been using it to various purposes; once, for example, Girl Human had me lay down on it, and she wrapped me up into a bunny burrito and tried to pick me up. I’m not sure what she was trying to accomplish, but I humored her until she apparently lost her balance and tried to flip me upside down. How crazy! Another time, Boy Human tried to get me to lay down on it so he could clip my nails, and I wasn’t having that, no sir. (I let him clip them in the end, but why use the pink towel to such ends?).

I was a little more than curious, then, about the pink towel today, and boy did that come out to a surprise. See, there was a bit of food on the towel, as usual, and then Boy Human started to brush me. I didn’t think this was anything out of the ordinary; in fact, I like being brushed. It’s pretty soothing when you get down to it, and it leaves my fur all nice and shiny.

So I’m sitting there, eating, being brushed, minding my own business, when suddenly and completely without warning, some powdery stuff comes falling down on me! What’s up with that? At first, I didn’t really care, because, whatever, they’re my Humans, and I know they wouldn’t hurt me. I have proof. The other day, Boy Human tried to block my way into one of my favorite spots, so I climbed over his face to get there. On my way over, though, I must have scratched him pretty good (completely by accident, I assure you), because he shot upwards covering a bloody spot. I felt so bad, but he didn’t shout or hurt me or anything. Girl Human was concerned, but he passed it off as no big deal, and I can respect that. It also means that I know they understand that even I, genius that I am, can make mistakes, and they won’t punish me for silly errors.

So anyway, white powdery stuff. As I said, I didn’t care at first, but then the smell came upon me all at once like a rushing thunderstorm. It was STRONG! I didn’t know it, but I certainly didn’t like it. Boy Human, with his scrunched face, didn’t appear to like it very much either. Girl Human didn’t seem to mind, but they were both determined to get this strong smelling powder all over me, and I just wasn’t having it. I turned around to investigate the container from which this junk came, and it appeared to be bath powder! How rude of them!

It’s merely this one instance that I wish they knew I had a blog so I could tell them straight out, openly, and clearly, that I clean myself daily, almost always several times a day in fact, and I certainly don’t EVER need a strong-smelling bath again!

Here I am, looking old, because that’s what this stuff did! While I was investigating the bath powder container, Boy Human started to brush the stuff into my fur, as if it was totally welcome and necessary. Sure, it was better than having to track that stuff all over the house, but as soon as it started going in, my backside gave off the impression of age. I’m not young (well, not that young), and realizing that my backside looked gray was pretty unnerving! I guess it’s a good thing that I don’t see my own back all that much.

Well, anyway, suffice to say that I made them follow me around the whole apartment with the brush before I finally let them get the rest of the stuff in. That’ll teach them! I admit my fur does seem a little glossier now, and feels much cleaner, but overall I don’t think this was a very rewarding experience and I hope they’ll never do it again.

I promised a long time ago that I’d eventually write about the playpen that my humans constructed for me; now’s a good time as any. I’ve been very busy lately with other household chores, like helping my Girl Human clean by climbing onto the vaccuum machine and playing with my Boy Human. I have to keep him exercised, you know! Anyway, my playpen is really fun, so I’m glad they got it for me.

By the way - these pictures were taken all the way back in May! I am hoping to get some more recent ones (of myself, but also of my house) but Girl Human hasn’t been in the mood to take any photos lately. I don’t blame her, though; she always seems very tired when she gets home from work!

I was out doing my normal business while they were making this; they took several of my cardboard boxes (I call them mine because they certainly weren’t doing anything with them before this day!). I was pretty curious, but they continuously shooed me away as if I was a nuisance. I wasn’t having any of that, and had to make it pretty clear who was boss. I stuck my nose everywhere and climbed all over them. Eventually they gave up trying to get me out of the way, clearly realizing I was only doing my rightful duty. (I have to know what’s going on in my house, you know!)

So anyway, I lost interest pretty quickly, but when I came back to them later, they were done with their constructing. Lo and behold, they made something fun! For me! I was wary of it at first…

… But eventually I got into the idea of it. There are four bulk body parts to this thing, each is a box with a hole cut in two sides just large enough for me to slip through. Then they’re all duct taped together to make a nice long tunnel.

The last box on the far right has a hole on the top, too, with another box attached to the top of that one; Boy Human says he put it there so I can have a look out (and then he made jokes which I gathered were related to video games, because Girl Human has a certain face that she makes when Boy Human tries to be funny). Girl Human insists that the hole is good for climbing in and out of, and on top, which is what I end up using it for anyway.

Then along the top is another tunnel, with a hole leading into the first box on the far left, in case I want to get in and out that way. (In May, I fit fine in this triangle tunnel, but now I just smush it as I walk along, because it’s much too small for my muscles. Boy Human says I’m fat, but he’s just rude.) All in all, it is definitely a fun thing, and I’m glad they made it for me. I do love to climb!

I think, however, that part of the reason they made it was to keep me out of things they think I shouldn’t be getting into. They still haven’t quite grasped that this is my house and I let them, out of the kindness of my heart, live with me, but I suppose I can’t blame them for being so dumb. It’s a matter of their genetics.

I’ve lately been running circles around my girlfriend. Have I ever posted about her? She’s pink and so extremely soft, and my humans introduced us when they got my new condo. She’s sweet. She doesn’t do much around the house, and I have to put her inside my food bowl to get her to eat, but she doesn’t mind when I roll her around the condo. My humans think I do it to put my poop all over her, but that’s just disgusting! What rabbit would do such a thing to his girlfriend?

So anyway, she doesn’t often come out with me when I do my laps and administer order in the humans’ apartment, but today she’s right here next to me. We cuddled for a while as the cleaning crew (Boy Human) went through the condo and straightened up a bit, but then I realized how exciting it would be to show her all my duties at work — first hand!

I did my laps, inspected some new things (there’s a new white box near my corner, more on that later), but eventually I couldn’t contain myself any longer and had to go back to her. I don’t know what it is, but I can’t get enough of her; I have to snuggle up really closely and touch all her sides. So I walk around in circles! She seems to like it, she doesn’t complain anyway.

Girl Human noted it quickly so I’m a little weary to do it again so readily. They seem to be taking particular interest in my behaviors lately. Maybe it’s because my birthday’s coming up — I’ll be eight months old! But I guess humans celebrate years, not months. Silly humans. Anyway, I don’t want to have such public displays of affection towards her. I don’t know if they’d want to lecture me about babies or something.

Otherwise, life in the suburbs has been pretty calm. I still hop up onto their laps to lick some things, then run around re-inspecting the apartment in case something went wrong while I was licking their laps. They seem pretty content.

About this giant white box. I don’t know what it is; it wasn’t there last time I came out to do my job. The humans also seem to be enamoured with some other white thing they have hooked up to the TV. I’ll research into this further and try to figure out what’s wrong with them.
